Weyman Kwong
As a lifelong gamer, I was told I would love golf because it was so technical. I didn’t pick up golf until my 30s, but I was immediately hooked by all the nuanced complexities of the game. My strive for understanding the golf swing has led me down countless hours of learning, research, and experimentation. While I definitely wouldn’t classify myself as a great athlete, my analytical skills suits me quite well at dissecting golf swings while my technical prowess allows me to integrate modern technologies into lessons. My teaching style is rooted in modern swing theories, biomechanics, and motor program learning and development.
Lesson Overview
Physical - Are you able to comfortably perform certain moves require for the golf swing? If not, we can either look to get your body better or work around the limitation.
Conceptual - Do you have the right concept? It’s self-defeating if you are actively trying to perform the wrong action.
Practical - How do we apply the conceptual change to your swing? How should you practice effectively? It’s not just about knowledge and effort. Practicing effectively is a skill itself and should be developed.
Teaching Style
While I personally like to dive into numbers, angles, and forces, I will try to simplify the information into a simple goal or thought for the golfer and have their body self organize whatever change we are trying to implement. We will try a myriad of “feels” to get the change needed. At the end we will get a little more technical and go over what that change did, why we did it, and what to monitor in your swing so that you will learn to coach your own swing.
